5 Fun Facts
About Naja Christensen
I will never stop learning.
My curiosity is huge! I love books, podcasts, courses, and events on personal leadership, coaching, and transitions. NY Times keeps me up-to-date, Blinks help me read books faster, The Daily podcast is my
go-to for the expert perspective, and TedTalks is my forever source of inspiration. In the more practical realm, I learned to swim and ski as an adult, which was transformative. It showed me that it is truly never too late to learn.
My favorite meal of the day is breakfast.
Fresh fruit, a selection of cereals, delicious little pastries – I love a good breakfast. And while my family doesn’t necessarily share my excitement for this meal, they play along. I insist that we all have breakfast together every morning, and despite the early wake-up it requires, I think by now they agree that it’s a good way to start the day.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be ”different.”
Looking back, I always had the drive to push on and explore new roads. I wanted to travel and be “on stage” somehow. Stand out. Maybe that’s why I thought I wanted to be an actress, even if I never actually did any acting or had any sense that I had any talent for it. Interestingly though, I ended up doing precisely those things. I’ve lived all over, and I’ve been “on stage” professionally. As a manager, as a presenter, and now as a coach.
The first thing I do when I get up is to check my phone.
It’s not very spiritual, I know. I almost wish I could say something more inspiring. Still, with close family living so far away and the very nature of what I do, a quick check that nothing requires my immediate attention allows me to focus on the rest of my morning ritual. I go running in the morning and cook breakfast for my family, too, but I admit the phone check is the first thing.
My motto is, “Take charge of change.”
I have always believed that if you want a change in your life, you have to take personal responsibility to make it happen. No one else is going to do it for you. And if something doesn’t pan out, get back up and try a different route. It’s up to you! And it works, which is also why I’ve built my coaching philosophy on this.
